Malini Fonseka who stepped down from the UPFA national list MP post will be re-appointed to it.
Reports say that while she had yesterday informed the Parliamentary Secretary General that she was resigning from the MP post, she had also informed the Election Commissioner about it.
However President Mahinda Rajapaksa had not accepted Malini Fonseka's resignation letter.
According to the official communication made by the Parliamentary Secretary General, the election commissioner had at noon yesterday informed the UPFA General Secretary Minister Susil PremaJayantha to nominate a person for the post.
The Election Commissioner had stated that if the UPFA General Secretary would nominate a person for the post last night, necessary arrangement had been made notify about it through a gazette notification last night itself.
However media reported that Malini Fonseka had last night stated that she was withdrawing her resignation.
A senior election secretariat spokesman said that that a gazette notification should be issued after the UPFA general secretary re-nominates Malini Fonseka for the current vacancy.
The spokesman also said that Malini Fonseka could again serve as MP after she is sworn in before the Speaker.
