Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkody said that Malini Fonseka who had resigned from the post of MP would again take her oaths as MP on 9th October.
While Malini Fonseka who had served as a UPFA list MP resigned from her MP post day- before-yesterday, she withdrew her letter of resignation subsequently.
That was as a result of President Mahinda Rajapaksa's refusal to accept her resignation letter.
However on Malini Fonseka submitting her resignation letter to the Parliamentary Secretary General, the Secretary General had accepted her resignation.
Accordingly parliamentary Secretary General Dhammika Dasanayake had informed Election Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya that an MP post had fallen vacant.
While the election commissioner had informed the UPFA General Secretary to nominate a person for the vacant MP post, the UPFA General Secretary had re-nominated Malini Fonseka for the post.
This was gazetted by the election commissioner day-before-yesterday night itself.
Accordingly Malini Fonseka will take her oaths as an MP on October 9th.
