Officials including Chief Minister of the North Central Provincial Council assumed duties today before Governor of the province Karunarathna Divulgane.

The function in this regard was held at the Secretariat of the North Central Provincial Council.

Accordingly S.M. Ranjith assumed office as the Chief Minister of the North Central Provincial council while A.H.B. Semasinghe, K.H. Nandasena &

R.M.P.B Rathnayeke assumed duties as Provincial Ministers.

Meanwhile although former Chief Minister of the North Central Provincial Council Berty Premalal Dissanayeke had been extended an invitation to attend the ceremony the invitation had been declined.

More over 7 out of the 11 United National Party Provincial Councillors who were elected to the North Central Provincial Council during the recently held polls took oaths before Governor of the province Karunarathna Diwulgane today.

Kings Nelson meanwhile was sworn in as the North Central Provincial Council's Opposition Leader, while Chandima Gamage was sworn in as Chief Opposition whip.

Chief Minister of the North Central Provincial Council S.M. Ranjith expressed the following views subsequent to the group's assuming of duties.
