Hiru FM was awarded the international Maco Award as the island's most popular Radio channel of the year surpassing all radio channels in the country.
Hiru FM was thus felicitated at the Maco award ceremony held in Colombo for the sixth time.
The glorious moment of the bestowal of this award was at the Awards Night held yesterday.
Earlier on a number of occasions Hiru FM had received the award as the year's most popular Radio channel.
It is significant that Hiru FM won the South Asian Manthan Award as the best Radio in South Asia in 2011.
Hiru FM was also the only and the first Radio channel of Sri Lanka that represented and won at the South Asian Manthan Ceremony.
Hiru FM was thus honoured with the Manthan Award as a Sri Lankan Radio channel surpassing powerful South Asian countries including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal.
Similarly Hiru FM has also won awards as the best Radio channel and the best website at the e-Swaabhimaanee Awards.
Chairman of ABC Media Network Rayynor Silva states that 'Hiru' FM was able to garner the coveted MACO award for it's attempts to reach listeners through quality programming and groundbreaking technological advancements which were conveyed through a localized identity.
Speaking further he attributed Hiru FM's continued multi faceted success to
its numerous loyal listeners island wide.
