Four residents of Kahawatta Kotaketana have been arrested by the Colombo Crimes Division in connection with the latest killing of a mother and a daughter that had occurred in the area.
Reports say that the origins of this double killing have come to light as a result of the one-month long investigations carried out by the Colombo Crimes Division.
On July 19th night the mother U. G. Premavathi and daughter L. Pushpakumaari were killed.
Several police squads too had been assigned for probing this killing carried out while very subtly destroying evidence.
Four suspects with regard to the killing of the mother and daughter carried out earlier, that is, on January 31st, had been arrested and remanded.
It is said that investigations have revealed that this double killing had been carried out under the intimation of one of the remanded suspects for misguiding the investigation.
Police Media spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana said that the CID had also recovered a knife that was said to have been used in the latest double killing at Kotaketana.
The SSP also said that the suspects were scheduled to be produced before the Pelmadulla Magistrate Court today.
