FUTA claims that they have not received an invitation for discussions today despite the Minister claiming that such a discussion would be organized today.
Speaking at a press conference held today in Colombo, the chairman of FUTA Dr. Nirmal Ranjith Devasiri stated that the discussions will take place in the near future.
During a meeting that took place yesterday between chief prelates of the malwathu chapter and the ramagngna nikaya and the subject minister S. B. Dissanayaka, the chief prelates had requested for flexibility and the intervention of the president to solve the issue concerning the university lecturers.
During the meeting minister of education S. B. Dissanayaka promised to schedule a meeting between Minister Basil Rajapakse and the secretary of the ministry of Finance, P. B. Jayasundara and the university lecturers.
However, the chairman of FUTA, Dr. Nirmal Ranjith Devasiri stated that no such meeting is taking place today.
Speaking further Dr. Nirmal Ranjith Devasiri also stated that despite the minister of education making various statements against him, they have failed.
