According to the Department of Meteorology the prevalent dry weather conditions which are being experienced in most parts of the island has caused the climate conditions of many areas to swelter.
According to the Met Department the highest temperature during the past 24 hours has been reported from Polonnaruwa which is 39.1 degrees Celsius.
The Met department adds that temperature levels' exceeding 38 degrees Celsius is a rare occurrence even during period's intense drought.
The countries direct exposure to the sun and sparsely populated clouds are being attributed to the weather phenomenon being experienced at present.
Duty Meteorologist at the Met Department Jeewan Karunarathna made further clarification to our news team in this regard.

In a bid to provide these beasts with water the subject ministry has taken steps to create water resources.
