With less than almost an hour for the finals of the 20/20 world cup to be held between hosts Sri Lanka and the West Indies a frenzied atmosphere has taken to the streets here in Colombo with fans taking to streets wielding the national flag.
In view of the final game a special traffic plan has been implemented in and around the R. Premadasa stadium area.
Police media spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana expressed the following views concerning the traffic arrangement in place.
Meanwhile the Ministry of Rehabilitation & Prison Reforms states that prison inmates including LTTE detainees are being provided an opportunity to view the finals of the 20/20 match which is scheduled to be held between Sri Lank & the West Indies.
Speaking to our news team Minister of Rehabilitation & Prison Reforms Chandrasiri Gajadheera noted that wide screens have been put up at all prison complexes to give detainees a first hand experience of the game.
Meanwhile, The Department of Meteorology predicts that thunder showers which may be experienced in the central parts of the island during noon may be conveyed towards the South Western parts of the country towards the days latter due to winds.
Duty Meteorologist Pabodini Warnakulasuriya at the Met Department however noted that minor showers may be experienced in Colombo.
