Liquor prices have been increased from midnight last Sunday.

It is said that the price of approved hard liquor has been raised by 60 rupees per litre

Accordingly the price of a bottle of arrack will increase by an amount between 20 and 40 rupees.

The cause of the increase of liquor prices is attributed to the government raising the production tax of all types of liquor.

Finance Ministry deputy secretary S. R. Artigala said that Alcohol Producing Companies would raise liquor prices.

Accordingly the prices of arrack, foreign liquor and beer too will increase.
