The Judicial Services commission states that after taking into consideration the distress caused to the public, a decision has been taken to resume judicial services from tomorrow.

The Judicial Services Commission had convened a special meeting today following the assault on the secretary of the JSC Manjula Tillakaratne and the decision was reached during the course of the meeting.

However, due to the protests launched against the assault on the secretary of the JSC court proceedings in many regions in the island came to a halt.

Our regional correspondents reported that the activities of magistrate courts and district courts had come to a complete halt this morning.

Meanwhile, lawyers, court staff & the staff of the JSC engaged in a protest in front of the Colombo magistrate's court.

We also contacted police media spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana to obtain the latest details regarding the investigations carried out into the attack.

The UNP also expressed its views regarding the assault on the secretary of the JSC at a press conference held today in Colombo.

Speaking at the press conference, UNP Parliamentarian Mangala Samaraweera stated that the UNP will pay close attention to the decisions taken by the government with regards to this incident.
