University lecturers to attend the press conference only if the executive committee grants approval

A crucial meeting of FUTA's executive committee regarding the continuous strike launched by the university lecturers is currently underway at the Nawala Open University.

The agreement reached between FUTA and the government was presented to the membership for approval yesterday.

Secretary of FUTA Dr. Terrance Madhujith stated that the decisions taken by them will be presented to the executive committee for discussion.

Meanwhile a joint agreement is scheduled to be signed between FUTA and the government regarding the conclusion of the strike.

Minister of Higher Education S. B. Dissanayaka stated that the strike would conclude with the signing of the agreement.

A joint press conference with the participation of representatives of FUTA and the government is also scheduled for this afternoon to announce the conclusion of the strike.

However, secretary of FUTA Terrance Madhujith stated that FUTA will take part in the press conference in the afternoon only if the executive committee agrees to end the strike.
