India & Sri Lanka agree to utilize nuclear energy only for power generation

Minister of Power & Energy Patali Champika Ranawake states that India & Sri Lanka has agreed to utilize nuclear energy only for power generation purposes.

Addressing a media briefing held in Colombo today Minister Champika noted that common ground in this regard was reached during the latest stint of discussions which were held in India recently.

Speaking further Minister Ranawaka added that Sri Lanka opposed the use of nuclear power to fuel military purposes in the region.
