The University Trade Union Joint Committee says that Higher Education Minister
S. B. Dissanayake has pledged to be an intermediary for solving the University Non-Academic Staff salary issue.
University Trade Union Joint Committee co-chairman R. M. Chandrapaala told our news team that this decision was taken at the discussion held with the Minister yesterday.
On this occasion the University Grants Commission and the University Trade Union Joint Committee expressed their opposition to the problem that exists with regard to the University non-academic staff salary.
Subsequently it had been decided at the discussion that submissions would be made to the National Salaries and Employees' Commission and Finance Ministry with regard to the relevant Salary Circular.
The University Trade Union Joint Committee co-chairman said that he believed the pledge given by the Minister.
