JVP to head to Bribery Commission against Berty Premalal

The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna states that it is planning to lodge a complaint with the Bribery Commission against former Chief Minister of the North Central Provincial Council, Berty Premalal Dissanayake regarding the alleged misappropriation of 110 million rupees meant for the development of 67 irrigation tanks in Anuradhapura.


JVP Provincial Council member in the North Central Province Wasantha Samarasinghe added that the Presidential Investigation Unit which had conducted investigations into this misappropriation of money handed over its report to the government on the 25th of November, 2010.

He said that the JVP was also planning to take action against those involved in the misappropriation of money meant for the payment of compensation to farmers affected by the Mavil Aru water crisis in 2006.
