It is being reported that the crisis which has arisen within United National Party concerning the attendance of party MP's to a meeting which has been organised by the Leader of the Democratic National Alliance Sarath Fonseka has intensified further.

According to political sources several speakers whose names were made public in a propaganda poster which was made public in this regard are also set to boycott the meeting.

Moreover the UNP has decided to implement strict disciplinary measures against party members who will participate in Fonseka's proposed meeting on the 18th of this month.

Meanwhile marking a first, the UNP today directly conceded that it was a mistake to appoint Sarath Fonseka as the common candidate during the 2010 presidential poll.

Expressing his views to our news team General Secretary of the UNP MP Thissa Aththanayeke noted that Sarath Fonseka was thwarting the party's attempts to form an aligned opposition.

Chief Secretary of the JVP Tilvin Silva meanwhile expressing his views to our news team noted that JVP will not participate in Fonseka's meeting which has been scheduled for tomorrow.

In related developments UNP Mathale District Parliamentarian Wasantha Aluwihare states that he will not attend tomorrows meeting.

Moreover it is reported that UNP parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayaseka who was also due to mark his presence during tomorrow's meeting is currently abroad with fellow party parliamentarian Hareen Fernando taking ill.

However UNP MP's Karu Jayasooriya, Palitha Range Bandara & Palitha Thewarapperuma have confirmed their participation for tomorrows meeting which is being organised by the Leader of the DNA Sarath Fonseka.
