Political sources state that Kurunegala district UNP MP Ashok Abeysinghe has requested the party leadership to remove the disciplinary inquiry against him if he is not to take part in the rally organized this afternoon with the leadership of Sarath Fonseka.
It is reported that this request was presented to opposition leader Ranil Wickramasinghe via a senior leader in the UNP.

Meanwhile, Kalutara district UNP MP Palitha Thevarapperuma has stated that he will keep his promise to take part in the rally.
He expressed his views regarding his decision in the following manner.
Puttalam District UNP MP Palitha Rangebandara also stated that he will take part in this rally after meeting with the chief prelates of the Malwathu and Asgiri chapters.
It was reported that former deputy leader of the UNP Karu Jayasuriya will be taking part in the rally this afternoon.

However, UNP general secretary MP Tissa Attanayaka stated that the party's decision regarding the rally in Hyde Park has not changed.
