In an exercise aimed at reaching out to China, the Tamil National Alliance has met Chinese Embassy officials in Colombo & apprised them of issues facing the Northern and Eastern Tamils.
TNA leader Mavai Senathirajah speaking to the Hindu has stated that the delegation had met Chinese Embassy officials including its Ambassador in Colombo on Monday and explained to them the partie’s concerns.
Furthermore, TNA leaders said that they had briefed Chinese diplomats on the construction of permanent structures which was coming up in lands owned by Tamils.
According to the Hindu, the Chinese government is planning aiding the government of Sri Lanka to build structures that would house the Army and their families in the north.
The TNA had briefed Chinese diplomats on their view point, and requested the Chinese to take into consideration the people’s needs.
However, in reply the Chinese Ambassador had noted that any political concerns should be taken up with the government of Sri Lanka & had refused to play the role of an interlocutor.
