The government holiday issued on behalf of the Hajj festival which had been allocated for the 26th of October has been cancelled, and instead the 27th of October has been declared a government holiday.

According to the Ministry of State Administration the decision comes in the wake of the Muslim devotees being unable to sight the moon on the supposed day.

A statement in this regard was issued by the Grand Jumma Mosque in Colombo recently.
