Former Attorney General of Sri Lanka Mohan Peiris in an expression of his opinions to the Electronic Edition of The Asia Tribune has stated that Sri Lanka's National Action Plan on Human Rights is a legitimate document & not a voluntary submission.

Drawing allusions from Sri Lanka's recent sturdy efforts to uphold the human rights record in the country, & implementations done based on the final report of the Lessons Learnt & Reconciliation Commission, the former Attorney General noted no party could accuse Sri Lanka of failing to implement substantial measures to uphold its human rights record.
