14 persons issued warrants in connection to Kudawella fisherman incident

14 persons have been identified by police who are suspected to have hijacked the multi day fishing trawler named 'chejan', which set sail from Kudawella.

According to Police Media Spokesperson SSP Prishantha Jayakodi a warrant has been obtained by police upon presenting facts before the Tangalle Magistrates Court.

The warrant has been forwarded to the Criminal Investigation Department which will conduct investigations in to the incident aided by INTERPOL.

6 crew members had been on board the multi day fishing craft when it had set sail on the 14th of this month.

Consequently it was reported that the group were assaulted in mid-sea by another group which had arrived in a separate vessel.

2 of the victims had been rescued by the navy where as the other 4 individuals were claimed as missing.

However according to the latest revelations made available by Police Media Spokesperson SSP Prishantha jayakodi, the 4 individuals who were believed to have gone missing are said to have fled with their captors on their own volition.
