The Disaster Management Centre states that a two and a half year old child has gone missing subsequent to an earth embankment collapsing on a house located in the Aththanagalle-Alawala area.

According to the Deputy Media Director of the DMC, the parents of the child have been admitted to the Wathupitiwala base hospital due to their injuries.

Meanwhile the alert which had been issued for the countries central highlands was lifted at 6.p.m. this evening.

However the Deputy Media Director of the DMC cautions residents occupying the rest of the 10 districts for which the alert was issued to remain vigilant.

Meanwhile Duty Meteorologist at the Met Department Prabhodhani Karunapala

Says that thunder showers may be experienced in the Western & North Western parts of the island tonight.
