14 petitions filed against the proposed Divinaguma Bill were taken up before the Supreme Court today comprising a three judge panel headed by Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranayeke.
Accordingly it was decided that the bill would be taken up for consideration before court tomorrow.
When the petition was taken up before court previously on the 18th of this month its petitioners were permitted to make their submissions before court.
Since court was unable to finalise the hearing of the petitioner's submissions in this regard, they were provided with an additional day to do so today.
When the case is tried before the 3 judge panel of the Supreme Court tomorrow, intermediary groups as well as the respondents will be provided an opportunity file their submissions.
