14 petitions filed against the proposed Divinaguma Bill were taken up before the Supreme Court today comprising a three judge panel headed by Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranayeke.

Accordingly it was decided that written objections would be taken up for consideration before court tomorrow.

State counsel Neril Pulle stated in the Supreme Court today that in the event the bill is not endorsed by the provincial councils, it can be approved via a two thirds majority in the parliament.
