The CPC trade unions are stating that there is a risk of the prices of fuel and gas increasing with the activities of the Sapugaskanda oil refinery coming to a halt.

The general secretary of the National Employees Association of the CPC, Ananda Palitha stated that with the current situation the CPC is likely to lose 45 million rupees and as a result Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene prices may increase by approximately between 4 to 5 rupees.

The Petroleum Corporation says that the refinery activities of the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery will be temporarily put on hold for about 10 days from tomorrow.

CPC Managing Director L. E. Susantha Silva told our news team that as a result of the refinery not having received sufficient amount of crude oil, refinery functions would cease from tomorrow.
