The token strike which was launched by the Government Medical Officers Association at 8 a.m. this morning is due to conclude at 8 a.m. tomorrow.

The token strike was launched by the GMOA demanding solutions for several of its issues including salary discrepancies.

Central Working Committee member of GMOA Dr. Nalinda Herath expressed these views to our news team regarding today's decision to call off the strike.

Meanwhile, daily activities at several hospitals island wide were hampered today due to the token strike which was launched by the Government Medical Officers Association.

Director of the Colombo National Hospital Dr.Anil Jasinghe expressing his views to our news team stated that activities at the hospital were hampered owing to the GMOA's token strike.

Meanwhile Director of the Kandy hospital Dr. G.A. Dissanayeke also expressed his views regarding the toll suffered by today's strike.

According to a spokesperson attached to the Karapitiya teaching Hospital in Galle, treatment at the hospital’s emergency bay had been unaffected by the strike.

Moreover patients who had arrived at several hospital Out Patients Departments'

Island wide were left thoroughly inconvenienced due to today's token strike.
