The All Ceylon Bakery Owners Association has decided to convene a meeting next Monday to consider if the price of bakery products should be increased concurrent to the price increase in wheat flour.
The price of a Kilogramme of Prima brand wheat flour was increased by 6 rupees while a Kilogramme of Serendib brand wheat flour was increased by 4 rupees with effect from mid night yesterday.
Chairman of the ACBOA M.K. Jayawardhana expressing his views to our news team stated that price revisions to bakery products were an essential move set against this development.
At present the price of a 450 Gramme loaf of bread remains at 58 rupees.
According to sources this may be increased by two rupees, there by making the revised price of a loaf of bread 60 rupees.
