The navy has launched a search operation for locating the multi-day fishing trawler that had got stranded after setting sail from the Trincomalee fishing Harbour.
Navy media spokesman Commander Kosala Varnakulasuriya said that a trawler belonging to the navy has already been despatched for locating the stranded fishing trawler.
Recent reports said that due to the inclement weather a trawler which had set sail with 4 fishermen from the Trincomalee fishing harbour on 25th of October had got stranded in the middle of the sea.
When the threat of the cyclone was announced they were engaged in fishing in the middle of the ocean.
Although they tried to sail to the shore due to a mechanical problem their attempt was futile.
They said that as of yesterday the trawler with the four fishermen was located 25 kilometres away from Trincomalee.
