The centre for disaster management states that 13 districts have been affected due to adverse weather conditions.

Deputy Director Pradeep Kodippili stated that 2 deaths have been reported from the Matara and Jaffna regions as a result of adverse weather and one person has been injured.

In addition, 49, 788 individuals belonging to 13, 074 families have been adversely affected by the inclement weather during the past few days.

The Met department today said that the tropical cyclone storm ‘Neelam’ is moving in North wards of the country indicating that it is moving away from the island.

However, under the influence of the system, showers with fairly strong winds will continue to prevail in the North-central, Northern, Eastern and North-western provinces today.

Meteorologist Jeewan Karunarathne speaking to our news team said "Neelam is expected to cross the coast between Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh this evening.
