President Mahinda Rajapakse states that the development of the country is being planned with the welfare of the public in mind and not to safeguard power.
The President made this statement while partaking in the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation held at the Sugathadasa stadium today.
The president further stated that the reason the country's economy remained strong while the world's powerful economies collapsed, was the faith and trust placed in the country's state institutions.
The president had also discussed with officials of Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation the importance of creating an insurance plan for the public in areas where the threat from wild elephants is high.
Meanwhile, President Rajapakse has instructed officials to prevent the delays that occur in the importing of fuel and ensure a continuous supply of fuel for the public during a discussion held with the officials of the CPC and CEB at the Temple Trees.
