The Colombo Crimes Division reported to the courts today that the police teams investigating the assault on the Judicial Services Commission Secretary Manjula Tilekaratne has turned their attention towards a vehicle used in the assault.
This was reported by the CCD when the case regarding the assault on the Secretary of the JSC was heard at the Mount Lavinia Magistrate's Court today and a report on the investigation was presented in court.
The report further stated that no suspects have been arrested as yet.
The CCD informed courts that further investigations are continuing based on phone records from telephone operators.
During the hearing, attorney at law, Athula Ranagala, representing the Mount Lavinia Lawyers Association, who is appearing on behalf of the victim, stated in court that the investigations have met with various obstacles.
However, the CCD stated that no such obstacles have been encountered and that the investigations are proceeding unhindered and unbiased.
After deliberating over the facts presented, Mount Lavinia Chief Magistrate Nirosha Fernando instructed the CCD to provide a detailed report on the 14th of next month.
