More than 21 years after the assassination of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, officers of the CBI and Indian intelligence agencies recently visited Sri Lanka and questioned former LTTE leader Selvarasa Pathmanathan, alias ‘KP’, in connection with his suspected role in the crime.

The CBI, as part of the Multi-Disciplinary Monitoring Agency, is probing the larger conspiracy in the case and was allowed to question KP for two days.

The LTTE’s former financier and ‘chief arms procurer’ was nabbed in Malaysia and brought to Sri Lanka in 2009. He was in detention until October 17th.
