A mother & her daughter have been killed by electrocution in the Dikhinna-Madawala, Kandy today while an 8 year old boy, believed to be a nephew of the deceased have sustained injuries.
According to the Wathethegama police the ill fated incident had taken place when the mother and the daughter had attempted to tie a clothes line.
The 8 year old boy who had sustained injuries in the incident meanwhile has been admitted to the Kandy hospital.
Meanwhile the Landslide Department of the National Building Research Organisation states that earth slips are being reported from several areas concurrent to the incessant weather.
Head of the NBRO's Landslide unit, R.M.S. Bandara expressing his views to our news team noted that the land slide warning which was issued for highlands was still in effect.
Meanwhile the Department of Irrigation states that the Ging, Kelani, Kalu & Nilwala rivers are over flowing from several locations.
