The numbers of individuals who have been affected by the adverse weather conditions have increased further.

The centre for disaster management stated that 2 hundred and 21 thousand 482 individuals belonging to 53 thousand 273 families belonging to 22 districts have been affected island wide and also 8 deaths and 15 injuries have been reported.

4 thousand 730 houses have suffered partial damage while 338 have been completely destroyed.

The Centre Disaster Management further stated that 15 thousand 017 individuals have been placed in 3 thousand 798 welfare camps.

Meanwhile the Met department stated that thunder showers will take place in the Eastern and Uva provinces this afternoon.

Meteorologist Merrill Mendis also stated that conditions favourable for fishing, will be prevalent around the island today.
