Gradual decline in displaced owing to inclement weather; Heavy rains expected within 24 hours

The Department of Meteorology states that the inter monsoon conditions may come to effect during the next 24 hours.

Duty Meteorologist at the Met Department Pabodha Karunapala expressing his views in this regard stated that most parts of the island may receive heavy showers accompanied by strong gale winds this evening.

Meanwhile, the Centre for Disaster Management states that number of displaced persons placed  at welfare centres owing to the recent inclement weather are on the gradual decline.

Moreover according to the Deputy Media Director of the CDM Sarath Lal Kumara, several bodies of water which had reached spill level due to the inclement weather are also subsiding.

In related developments the Expressway Maintenance & Management Centre requests of motorists to maintain low speeds when traversing the stretch of road between Dodangoda & Welipanna on the Southern Highway owing to reparation activities.
