The Matara Passenger Transport Company says that they would resort to a strike if steps are taken to reduce the number of bus halts from Colombo to Panadura.

Chairman of the Company A K H Halpage stated that a decision in this regard will be taken this afternoon.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Highways Nirmala Kothalawala states that the earth slip which had occurred on the Southern Expressway between the Dodangoda & Welipanna entry/exit points would be examined today.

Speaking further the deputy minister noted that the site of the earth slip would be examined by a special geological team headed by a professor of the University of Moratuwa.

Expressing his views to our news team Deputy Minister of Highways Nirmala Kothalawala however noted that transportation along the Southern Expressway was continuing uninterruptedly.
