Political party leaders are due to meet tomorrow to discuss the impeachment motion which has been submitted to parliament to oust the current Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranaike.
According to a Spokesperson representing the opposition the meeting is slated to take place tomorrow evening.
The impeachment bearing the signatures of 117 governments MP's were handed over to the speaker of the parliament last Thursday.
Meanwhile various views were expressed during media briefings held in Colombo today regarding the impeachment motion filed against the countries Chief Justice.
United National Party MP Laxshman Kiriella expressing his views in this regard noted that 17th amendment to the constitution should be enacted if the balance between the executive, judiciary & legislature is to be preserved.
Propaganda Secretary of the JVP MP Vijitha Herath states that his party still remains indecisive if it is to join the parliamentary select committee appointed by the speaker to investigate charges levelled against the chief justice in the impeachment motion filed against her.
Meanwhile Minister of Foreign Employment Promotion & Welfare Dilan Perera who presided over a function in Bibila today also expressed his views regarding the impeachment filed to oust Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranaike.
