The verdict on the draft Divi Neguma Act is scheduled to be communicated to parliament by the Speaker today.
A bench of Supreme Court Judges led by the Chief Justice on the 31st of October informed the Speaker and the President regarding the court verdict after examining the petitions submitted for and against the draft Divi Neguma Act.
However the draft Divi Neguma Act was also discussed at the party leaders' meeting held yesterday where party leaders agreed to decide on the second reading of the draft bill after the Speaker informs parliament about the Supreme Court verdict.
Accordingly party leaders will meet for another discussion regarding the bill today.
Meanwhile The All Ceylon Samurdhi Development and Agriculture Research Officers' Union will stage an agitation near parliament this noon to express their support for the Divineguma bill.
Representatives of many institutions including the Samurdhi Authority, Samurdhi Commissioner's Department are scheduled to join the agitation.
