Political sources reveal that the names of the 7 government representatives who will be appointed for the Parliamentary Select Committee that is being appointed to investigate the impeachment motion brought against the Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayaka is scheduled to be handed over to the speaker today.
Meanwhile, out of the 4 opposition members to be appointed to the PSC, the names of the 2 UNP representatives will be presented to the speaker today.
UNP party sources revealed that the two representatives will most likely be MPs John Amaratunga and Lakshman Kiriella.
However, the Democratic National Alliance and the Tamil National Alliance have not yet decided whether to appoint representatives for the PSC or not.
The opposition has decided to give these two parties the opportunity to name one member each for the PSC.
