The duties of four police officers attached to the Moragahahena police have been suspended subsequent to the clash which occurred between police and a group of civilians in the Horana, Moragahahena-Yahalakele-waththa area last night.
According to Police Media Spokesperson SSP Prishantha Jayakodi the decision to suspend these police officers had been reached based on investigations carried out on the incident so far.
Police who had travelled to the Yahala-kale-waththa area in Horana last night in order to arrest a suspect who had been accused of abuse charges had been attacked with stones by relatives of the accused.
According to Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana a tense situation had arisen subsequently.
Speaking further he noted that police had however managed to arrest the suspect.
3 police officers as well as 8 civilians were injured during the altercation.
