Steps have been taken to deploy police STF security personnel for strengthening security in three areas in Kahawatta in Ratnapura.
Action for strengthening security has thus been taken in Kotaketana, Dimbulwala and Neeladura.
Police media spokesman's office said that such security measures had been taken for containing the murder wave that has rolled out in Kahawatta.
A senior Kahawatta police spokesman said that police STF personnel had taken action to set up security camps.
Steps have been taken to set up one camp at Neeladura and another at the Opatha Estate in Kahawatta.
Reports say that in addition a police Guard too has been set up.
Kahawatta police said that about 700 Police STF personnel have been deployed for this.
The latest incident in the Kahawatta Crime chain took place last Sunday night.
A gang entered a house in Dimbulwala and wounded a couple with sharp weapons.
From time to time from 2008 up to now 15 women have been killed in Kahawatta.
Arrests of relevant suspects and producing them before courts have taken place.
In addition Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister W. D. J. Seneviratne has also taken action to address a letter to the President requesting that a three-member bench of judges be appointed to put an end to the killing wave that has cropped up in Kahawatta.
