Public should not panic regarding gas leak at Sapugaskanda

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation states that the public should not panic regarding a gas leakage at the Sapugaskanda oil refinery.

Manager of the Sapugaskanda oil refinery Neil Jayasekara expressing his views to our news team noted that an investigation in this regard was already underway.

According to Jayasekara a faulty valve had caused the gas leakage while the accident has been established as a maintenance accident.

Secretary of the CPC's Jathika Sewaka Sangamaya however blames officials at the CPC for ill maintained gas pipelines.

Set against the claims of the Secretary of the CPC's JSS, the Manager of the Sapugaskanda oil refinery Neil Jayaseka refutes claims that the gas pipe line system at the refinery is obsolete.

Minister of Petroleum & Petroleum Resources Susil Premajayantha meanwhile expressing his views in parliament today made further clarifications regarding the recent incident at the Sapugaskanda oil refinery.
