The Ministry of External Affairs says that several illegal Sri Lankan migrants who had reached Australia are willing to return to the country.

A Senior Spokesperson at the Ministry stated that around 200 such migrants who returned to the island were predominantly those who arrived voluntarily.

The reason for their return is because their refugee claims have been rejected considering the peaceful situation which has dawned in Sri Lanka.

The External Affairs Ministry also stated that according to the new regulations introduced in Australia, most of the migrants will have to return to the island.

Meanwhile, 8 more individuals who attempted to illegally travel to Australia were arrested by the Kalawanchikudi Police yesterday.
