Controversy & speculation still surrounds the recent gas leak which occurred at the Sapugaskanda oil refinery which also claimed the lives of two of its employees.

The Jathika Sewaka Sangamaya attached to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation meanwhile states that the corporation is attempting to shun away from its responsibility of paying the deceased employees compensation.

Secretary of the CPC's JSS, Ananda Palitha expressing his views to our news team noted that the stance of the government was clearly made evident to the nation yesterday by subject minister Susil Premajayantha's statement in parliament.

Moreover this was the response of the Secretary of the CPC's JSS Ananda Palitha which was filed in this regard.


Meanwhile trade unions attached to the Sapaugaskanda oil refinery also charge the fire unit as well as an ambulance operated by the facility remains in a dilapidated state.
