Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe states that it is against the countries constitution to obtain votes for next years appropriation bill during its second reading in parliament.
Wickremesinghe expressing his views in this regard observed that the Supreme Court had already submitted an amendment to the existing appropriation bill.
The leader of the Opposition further states that devoid of implementing the amendment to the appropriation bill, it is against the constitution to obtain votes during its second reading in parliament.
Moreover Wickremesinghe expressed his dissent against the procedure in parliament last Saturday during the second reading of the 2013 budget proposal.
However speaking during a media briefing held in Colombo yesterday, Leader of the Opposition Ranil Wickremesinghe observed the following views regarding the alleged violation of the constitution.
Meanwhile Leader of the House Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva responded in the following manner to the opposition displayed by Wickremesinghe in parliament.
However Minister of Petroleum Resources Susil Premajayantha added that amendments regarding the appropriation bill could be raised during the committee stage debate in parliament.
Accordingly Minister Premajayantha added that the debate in this regard would be taken up in parliament today during the committee stage debate.
