The Attorney General has questioned UNP MP Ravi Karunanayeke's motive behind his request to obtain his passport, which has been impounded by court, based on charges levelled against him through the Exchange Control Act.
Senior Attorney Deleepa Peiris appearing on behalf of the Attorney General's Department made this inquiry when the case was taken up before the Colombo High Court today.
Litigation was filed against UNP MP Ravi Karunanayeke on the 10th of July 2009 under the Exchange Control Act.
Subsequently Karunanayeke was granted bail & his pass port was impounded by court.
Presidents Counsel Riyenzi Arsakularathna who represented MP Karunanayeke in court today, citing the nature of his clients business involvements requested of court to release Karunanayeke's passport which has been impounded by court.
