23 students from two schools were admitted to hospital today following allergies.
16 students receiving education at the Gampola Muslim College were admitted to the Gamapaha Teaching hospital and were later dispensed treatment at the OPD unit of the hospital based on their symptoms which doctors had deduced not serious.
Meanwhile 7 students receiving education at the Monaragala Athimale college were also admitted to the Athimale Government hospital following allergic symptoms.
Moreover a group of epidemiologists were dispatched to these schools to investigate the cause of these allergies.
According to Dr. Paba Palihawadana, Director of the Epidemiology Unit the cause of these allergies are said to be non pathological.
