The 3 bodies that were discovered at a house in the Bulathsinhala - Halwatura - Udahenwatta region were brought to the Kalutara - Nagoda hospital for post mortems.
The 3 victims were struck with a sharp object and killed and the bodies of the victims, the father, mother and son, were discovered by the police this morning.
Police media spokesperson Prishantha Jayakody stated that the murders were carried out during the course of a robbery and that no suspects have been arrested yet.
Meanwhile, the report of the government analyst with regards to the deaths of a mother and son who died due to a fire that erupted in the Ratnapura - Kiriella - Mudunkotuwa region is due today.
Assistant government analyst Gayan Bandara had arrived at the scene of the fire this afternoon.
The deceased mother was 32 years of age while the son was 7 years old and another child of the deceased mother had died as a result of an adverse reaction to a medicinal drug.
Police investigations have revealed that the cause of death to be self immolation due to grief over the death of the other child and that she had written two letters to her husband who is abroad that she is contemplating suicide.
