Students from 4 more schools were hospitalized due to allergies today.
These patients were students of the Ampara Gamini College, Dematagoda - Anurudhdha Girls School, Minuwangoda - Polwatta Sri Rathanasara Vidyalaya and Balangoda - Pinnawala Udagama Maha Vidyalaya.
7 students of the Dematagoda - Anurudhdha Girls School and 30 students of the Minuwangoda -Sri Rathanasara Vidyalaya were hospitalized after showing the allergic symptom of itchiness.
A further 35 students of the Balangoda - Pinnawala Udagama Maha Vidyalaya were admitted to the Balangoda hospital and a hospital spokesperson stated that 18 are still receiving treatment.
The director of the Ampara hospital Dr. Lankathilaka Jayasinghe stated that while 30 students of the Ampara Gamini College were admitted to the hospital who had complained of itchiness only one is still receiving treatment.
However the Ampara hospital director stated that an investigation needs to be carried out to determine whether this illness is a psychological illness.
