The incident of national list parliamentarian Tiran Alles of the Democratic National Alliance party speaking in parliament yesterday for the first time since the 2010 general election was a topic in parliament today as well.
This was after opposition leader Ranil Wickramasinghe requested the speaker to conduct an investigation as to whether an injustice was committed by the chair of the parliament yesterday.
MP Tiran Alles made several comments regarding the leader of the opposition during his oration yesterday.
When the opposition leader raised a point of order during his reply oration, MP A. H. M. Ashwar who was chairing the meeting responded in the following manner.
Speaking today in parliament the opposition leader raised two points with the first being a request from the speaker to investigate whether an injustice was committed towards the opposition leader.
The 2nd point raised by the leader of the opposition was that MP Tiran Alles spoke for 5 more minutes than he was allocated.
Speaking further the leader of the opposition raised a question as to how the extra time was allocated without the consent of the chief opposition whip.

Responding to the claims of the leader of the opposition, A. H. M. Ashwar stated that he allowed MP Tiran Alles the extra 5 minutes with the consent of the group leader of the DNA.
However other members of the opposition stated that during MP Tiran Alles' speech, the group leader of the DNA Anura Kumara Dissanayaka was absent from the chambers.
