Stolen museum blades taken from Biyagama to Colombo

Minister of National Heritage Dr. Jagath Balasooriya states that there remains a possibility of restoring the destroyed artefacts which were stolen from the National Museum recently.

Expressing his views to our news team in this regard Minister Dr. Balasooriya added that reconstruction activities would commence followed by courts consent.

The Criminal Investigations Department was able to recover 3 blades believed to be relics of swords from a mound of garbage located adjacent to the home of the mother of the chief suspect of the Colombo National Museum theft case Kangatta.

According to informed sources a garbage collector from the Biyagama Pradeshiya Sabha had inadvertently translocated the three blades which were lying at a pile of garbage located adjacent to the Dimo Junction in Siyambalape.

The blades were subsequently recovered by the Criminal Investigations Department based on its investigations.
